TAP

At The Macarthur Ballet and Dance Studio we teach BAL syllabi along with free style choreography in each Tap class.

BAL syllabus offers a sound tap technique building from the basics of shuffles and triples in junior grades, to riffs, wing, pick ups, turns, syncopation, and varied rhythm patterns in senior grades. All grades incorporate slow, medium and fast speeds, and varied styles, equipping the dancer with the background and ability to perform any style of tapping. Stage presentation is a requirement in the exams, and all grades include a short dance of the teacher’s choreography.

Please email the studio to express interest in consideration for exam.

Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun.
